Bring the passion

bring the passion!

I snapped this billboard shot eons ago. He laid out his plans ahead of time, no? He had a policy… goal…objective… directive. I interpreted the words to mean some things: 1. better parties at the state capitol, 2. legislature staged high fisted arguments in which there would be no cliques, 3. considerations for the environment, 4. considerations for the poor.

Well folks I guess I am the big dummy.

Passion in government apparently refers to indiscretion, scandal and media hunger, pointing out wrongs, and worse: driving them into the ground, as well as moving too fast (or slow) to use grammar check. Or did they change the “too/comma” rule? Bring some passion to Albany (and Buffalo, too).

I am in the midst of a ginormous reorg and deselection project with my piles of improperly cataloged photographs (mild chronological). I have made the liberating decision of switching my scheme to “genre/subject” and saying good bye to chronology, because at the end, at least my end, the cataloging of my documentations will perhaps not require so much provenance and attention as other more important things, like the photograph above. Which has a different meaning now I ’spect.

Also I want to present my work as a story of sorts - many stories - not simply by date. For me, that’s like arranging ALL of your print journals alphabetically instead of by subject, so patrons may browse. Plus, I get to feel like Cusack in High Fidelity only it’s by image not album (that will be a future post, if I grow the cojones for the project). It’s not that I have anything against chronology, but for me browsing is still alive and I am going to use some of this time to take deep breaths and totally weed and reorganize my collection.

Anyway, found this looking through thousands of photos today. Delaware and Delavan, for the Buffalonians.
